Event: The Legacy of UN Peace Operations. Sep 10, 2019. 3 PM-6 PM

The Legacy of UN Peace Operations
Discussion: Pilots for Transition and Sustaining Peace
Focus area: MINUSMA

Date: September 10, 2019
Time: 3pm- 4:30pm
Location: Permanent Mission of Australia to the UN
150 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017

Objective of the Meeting:

Building on the first phase of the “Legacy of UN Peace Operations” project, led by the Foundation for Achieving Seamless Territory (FAST) and New York University’s Center on International Cooperation (NYU-CIC) with support from the Mission of Australia, this discussion will generate ideas around the second phase of the project, focused on MINUSMA.

Through a set of pilot projects in Bamako, Mali, we seek to promote community-driven engagement through durable infrastructure projects within and around the UN mission. These pilots will aim to create opportunities for facilitating broader partnerships, effective communication between the mission and surrounding communities as well as to foster local empowerment and resilient societies.

This phase of the project will be undertaken in collaboration with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, alongside other relevant parts of the UN system.
