Yousef Munayyer, Malkit Shoshan and Josh Ruebner are leading analysts, advocates, and scholars of Palestine policy and history. Join us as they bring their deep subject-matter expertise on Palestinian political history, U.S. foreign policy, and international law to a conversation with moderator Mathias Risse for a rigorously grounded assessment of current dynamics and future possibilities for peace and justice in the region.

About the speakers:

Yousef Munayyer: Head of the Palestine/Israel Program and Senior Fellow at Arab Center Washington DC. He also serves as a member of the editorial committee of the Journal of Palestine Studies and was previously Executive Director of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights. Some of his published articles can be found in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, Boston Globe, Foreign Policy, Journal of Palestine Studies, Middle East Policy, and others. Dr. Munayyer holds a PhD in International Relations and Comparative Politics from the University of Maryland.

Joshua Ruebner: an American author, political analyst, and activist. He is the author of Shattered Hopes: Obama’s Failure to Broker Israeli-Palestinian Peace (Verso Books, 2013). Ruebner currently is the Policy Director of the Institute for Middle East Understanding Policy Project, and has previously worked at Americans for Justice in Palestine Action, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, and Congressional Research Service. He is a Faculty Fellow at Georgetown University’s Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching & Service, 2026-2027.

Malkit Shoshan: Design Critic in Urban Planning and Design, Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Her work, situated at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and human rights, employs interdisciplinary, multi‑scalar, and collaborative methods to address extreme conditions, including climate crisis, migration, and the spatial‑ecological dynamics of political borders in conflict‑affected environments. Among other works, she is the author of Atlas of the Conflict: Israel–Palestine (010, 2010) and BLUE: Architecture of UN Peacekeeping Missions (Actar, 2023);
